STORY LINES

  • Finish Strong: FC Dallas travels to Seattle for its last regular season match until late August. The MLS season will go on a month-long break after this weekend's matches for the Leagues Cup, the World-Cup style tournament between Liga MX and MLS teams. Before the new tournament gets started, FC Dallas needs to take care of business on the road in Seattle. And because this game will live in the memory of FCD players and fans alike for over a month, a good performance and positive result are paramount.
  • Ansah: The club welcomed a new face this week with the arrival of summer signing Eugene Ansah. The 28-year-old forward joins from the Israeli Premier League where he played 96 games and scored 17 goals. Capable of playing both striker and winger, Ansah could prove an important figure with the recent absences of fellow forwards Paul Arriola, Jesús Ferreira and Jáder Obrian for various reasons. Ansah only joined team training this week so his involvement in Saturday's game may be limited. Still, a cameo off the bench isn't out of the question.
  • The Sounders: As usual, the Sounders are a good soccer team. They sit in second place in the Western Conference and boast the second best defensive record in the league. What's more, FC Dallas doesn't perform well in Seattle historically: the club has won once in 14 tries at Lumen Field during the regular season (1-10-3). While that doesn't exactly bode well for Saturday, the Sounders haven't been as dominant at home at usual with a 6-3-3 record. Another talking point will be the status of both teams' USMNT contingent. Seattle's Cristian Roldan, Jordan Morris and FCD's Jesús Ferreira all played in the United States' Gold Cup semifinal defeat to Panama Wednesday night. Although all three will return prior to Saturday, their fitness levels may preclude them from starting (as they usually would). Ferreira, in particular, started both the U.S.'s knockout games and went the full 120 minutes so he may not have enough in the tank for another 90 minutes just three days later.
