Story Lines
Two on the Bounce: It's been the ideal start for interim head coach Peter Luccin. The Frenchman only assumed the role last week and has already notched two wins: 2-0 over St. Louis last Saturday and 5-3 over Minnesota this Wednesday. The fact that Dallas had gone six games without a win prior to Luccin makes it all the more impressive. Now, they'll look to make it three wins in a row (something FCD hasn't done since October/November of 2020) with a trip to Seattle's Lumen Field, a venue where Dallas has won just once in 15 regular season attempts.
The Moose x3: Petar Musa stole the show in Wednesday's 5-3 win over Minnesota United. The Croatian forward scored three goals (the first hat trick of his pro career) to bring his tally to eight on the season. But it wasn't just Musa. Fellow forwards Logan Farrington and Jesús Ferreira also found the back of the net to give FCD its first five-goal game since 2021 and its first five-goal home game since 2019. The offensive explosion was thanks in large part to Dallas intentionally playing more vertically than in recent games, something interim head coach Peter Luccin pointed out in his postgame press conference.
Here We Go Again: FC Dallas travels to the West Coast to take on the Seattle Sounders at Lumen Field, a venue that hasn't been kind to the Hoops over the years. Dallas is 1-10-4 all-time in Seattle during the regular season with its lone win coming way back in 2011. Dallas also saw its 2023 season come to an end at Lumen Field last November in the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs (and where Alan Velasco unfortunately suffered an ACL tear). Considering the club's history at the stadium, a third-consecutive win under Peter Luccin Saturday night would be extremely impressive for the interim coach. Still, with Seattle having only won twice at Lumen this season, there's never been a better time for FCD to change the narrative.
