FRISCO, Texas (August 29, 2023) – FC Dallas homegrown goalkeeper Antonio Carrera has been named MLS NEXT Pro’s Player of Matchday 24 after his heroic efforts on Friday night in North Texas SC’s 1-0 win versus Whitecaps FC 2 at BC Place. Carrera is the first North Texas SC player to earn Player of Matchday honors.
Carrera, 18, recorded 10 saves in the match to set a new career-high. Carrera recorded a 100% saves percentage, completed 37 passes with an 86% pass accuracy, and recorded his third shutout of the 2023 season. He helped end a 10-game winless streak on the road and secured the club’s first road win since defeating LA Galaxy II on April 2 at Dignity Health Sports Park Track and Field Stadium.
This is the first time in 2023 North Texas SC has earned MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Matchday honors.
