How We Got Here
North Texas SC advanced to the conference final after defeating Tacoma Defiance 4-1 in the Western Conference semifinal. A slow start to the match from North Texas saw Tacoma take the lead, but their lead lasted only two minutes as Pedrinho quickly leveled the match. NTSC got out to a fast start in the second half thanks to a Logan Farrington goal. Two additional goals from Carl Sainté and Anthony Ramirez would seal the semifinal win and secure a spot in the Western Conference final. This is the first time North Texas SC has advanced to a Western Conference final since joining MLS NEXT Pro in 2022.
Everyone Eats
The seven goals scored in this year’s playoff run have come from seven different goal scorers, with five players contributing both a goal and an assist. Heading into this year’s edition of the playoffs, North Texas SC had four different goal scorers all-time. After just two matches played, that number has nearly tripled to a total of 11 different goal scorers in all competitions (MLS NEXT Pro, USL League One). Arturo Rodríguez leads that pack with two goals.
A Chance at Redemption
Last time North Texas SC and St Louis CITY2 squared off in playoff action was on September 25, 2022, in Western Conference semifinal action. St. Louis defeated North Texas with a pair of late second half goals. Four players from that 18-man roster are currently on the 2024 NTSC roster: Tarik Scott, Isaiah Parker, Carl Sainté and Alejandro Urzua. It will be a shot at redemption as this time North Texas will play host for the conference final.
The Foes
St Louis CITY2 heads into the Western Conference final after escaping The Town FC in overtime by the scoreline of 4-2. The side led by second-year head coach Bobby Murphy led the team to a 17-7-4 record in regular season play. Their attacking threat is led by MyKhi Joyner, who netted 16 goals and logged four assists in regular season action. This will be the fourth meeting of the year; the previous three have resulted in a 1-1-1 record.
