FRISCO, Texas (December 7, 2023) – North Texas SC has acquired winger Abdoul Zanne on loan from ASEC Mimosas for the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season. The club has an option to exercise a permanent transfer on Zanne’s contract following the conclusion of his 2024 loan.
Zanne, 20, joins North Texas SC after spending two seasons on loan with USL Championship side Loudoun United FC. He joined Loudoun initially during the 2022 season making 26 appearances and logging 1,247 minutes played. He contributed with two goals and three assists. Zanne rejoined the Virginia based side on loan for the 2023 season recording 1,250 minutes played and one assist in 28 matches played as a left back.
“Abdoul is an exciting attacking left sided player that adds a real vertical threat for us,” said North Texas SC Head Coach John Gall. “He has the mentality that we are looking for and is going to be a valuable piece to our puzzle. The speedy winger brings experience that will certainly benefit the group.”
The native of Abidjan, Ivory Coast featured in the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup for Loudoun starting in the third and fourth round. Zanne scored in Loudoun’s third round 5-0 win against Flower City Union and assisted in the 2-1 win over North Carolina FC during the second round.
Zanne made his MLS debut for D.C. United on July 14, 2022 playing three minutes as a substitute against Minnesota United. He also featured in an International Friendly for D.C. United against Bundesliga giants, FC Bayern Munich on July 20, 2022.
