Kansas City, Missouri (September 29, 2024) – North Texas SC (15-4-8, 59 points) defeats Sporting Kansas City II (9-12-6, 35 points) 4-1 in the extra point shootout after finishing 1-1 in regulation today from Children's Mercy Victory Field.

REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS

With tonight’s 1-1 draw in regulation, North Texas SC clinched the number one overall seed in MLS NEXT Pro for the 2024 season. This is the first time North Texas SC finishes first overall in MLS NEXT Pro and the second time in club history since starting play in 2019.

A DEBUT TO REMEMBER

Defender Isaiah Kaakoush came off the bench in the 65th minute of the match and scored his first professional goal 26 minutes later. Kaakoush signed in May from the Barça Residency Academy USA. Kaakoush marks the 15th different goal scorer for North Texas this season.

Midfielder Pedrinho registered the game-tying assist on Isaiah Kaakoush’s goal. Pedrinho now has 10 assists making it the most for North Texas this season and only one of three players to record 10+ assists in club history.

THE PATHWAY TO PRO

Defender Kaka Scabin made his professional debut in the 57th minute. Scabin signed from the FC Dallas Academy in July and is the 35th player to appear for North Texas this season.

FIRST START FOR LEO
Midfielder Leonardo Orejarena logged 58 minutes in his first start after making his professional debut on April 14. Orejarena was selected and played in the 2024 MLS NEXT All-Star match in July and was called up to the U.S. U18 men’s national team during the September international window where he registered a goal and an assist.
