STORY LINES

Unbeaten Month

After the club’s 2-2 draw with St. Louis CITY2, North Texas SC ended the month of May undefeated posting a 1-0-4 record. During the club’s five matches in the month, North Texas scored 12 goals while only conceding seven. The team’s average of 2.4 goals per game during May is a significant increase from April where it averaged just one goal per game over six matches. The increase in goals highlights the team’s growing familiarity head coach Javi Cano’s tactical plan and the emergence of talent within the club and the FC Dallas Academy.

Player to Watch

Last match, forward Nayrobi Vargas scored his second professional goal for North Texas SC in a 2-2 draw with St. Louis CITY2. Vargas scored in the 41st minute with a directed header into the corner of the net. The 17-year-old FC Dallas Academy player has been in great goal scoring form recently, having scored in back-to-back games after going goalless in his first five matches. With increased squad rotation, the U-17 Honduran international has been given the chance to feature more often and he’s taken his opportunity in stride. After making numerous appearances as a substitute, Vargas finally got on the scoresheet in his first professional start against Colorado Rapids 2. The young forward looks to continue making an impact throughout the rest of the season.
