FRISCO, Texas (September 6, 2024) – North Texas SC midfielder Leonardo Orejarena has been called up by the United States U18 YNT head coach Michael Nsien to participate in the 26th International Youth Football Tournament in Niigata, Japan from September 6-17.
Orejarena, 16, signed his first professional contract with North Texas SC on November 3, 2023. He made his professional debut against Tacoma Defiance on April 14. Orejarena was selected to play in the 2024 MLS NEXT All-Star match.
Orejarena earned his first international youth call-up to the U.S. U16 national team in August 2022. He has received multiple call-ups to U16 and U17 training camps.
The U.S. U18 men’s youth national team will play three matches in Japan, starting on Sept. 12 versus Niigata. The final two matches of the tournament will be on Sept. 14 vs. Japan and Sept. 16 vs. Peru.
