FRISCO, Texas (January 12, 2024) – North Texas SC has signed goalkeeper Michael Collodi to a one-year MLS NEXT Pro contract with an option for 2025, the club announced today.
Collodi, 22, joins North Texas SC after playing for the Columbia University soccer team from 2019-23. During his five seasons with the Lions, Collodi made 58 appearances and logged 5,212 minutes in goal. He earned nine shutouts, recorded 237 saves while posting a saves percentage of 74. The shot-stopper cemented his name in Columbia soccer history by finishing second all- time in program history in saves in program history.
During his time at Columbia, Collodi earned All-Ivy League honorable mentions for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He was named Ivy League Rookie of the week on September 4, 2019. To conclude his senior year, Collodi was named to Second Team All-Ivy of 2023.
“From a standout performer in our Academy, to a tremendous Ivy League career at Columbia University, it’s fantastic to see Michael come home,” said North Texas SC Head Coach John Gall. “Our club is built on moments like this. He’s a super competitor and has a big personality to go along with his stellar goalkeeping abilities. We are all thrilled for him.”
The Plano, Texas native played for the FC Dallas Academy from 2015-19. He featured in FC Dallas’ three Gordon Jago Super Group matches in the 2019 Dallas Cup. During his time with Dallas, Collodi received multiple U.S. Youth National Team training camp call ups at the U-14 and U-16 level.
With the addition of Collodi, North Texas SC now has 13 players under contract ahead of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season:
