FRISCO, Texas (March 21, 2023) – North Texas SC has signed Michael Webber to an MLS NEXT Pro professional contract for the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season with a club option for 2024 season. Per team policy, additional terms of the deal will not be disclosed.
“He has impressed us with this calmness and comfort in the goal since his first day,” said North Texas SC Head Coach Javier Cano. “He will help bring leadership to the younger goalkeepers that are rotating in from the Academy.”
Webber played at Bowdoin College from 2019-22 before joining North Texas. The native of Cork, Ireland, made 39 appearances, played 3,569 minutes, registered 157 saves and recorded 16 shutouts throughout his Polar Bears career. Webber held an 86 saves percentage with 157 saves out of 222 shots faced.
“He has shown great attributes at training and will be a great addition to the roster,” said North Texas SC General Manager Matt Denny. “He is a great fit who can also create the competition amongst the other keepers on the roster.”
