FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas’ Boys ECNL Red 08 team and Boys ECNL White 05/06 team won the Dallas Cup in their respective age divisions (U16 and U18) over the weekend, while the U19 Boys Academy finished runner-up in the Dallas Cup Super Group.
The ECNL Red 08 team won the Dallas Cup U16 division Saturday afternoon, defeating BVB ECNL 2-0 in the final with goals from Akram Kader and Gabriel Rojas. The ECNL White 05/06 team followed suit, defeating SoCal Elite FC 2-0 in the U18 final Sunday afternoon. JP Ramos and Gustavo Queiroz led the way with a goal each.
FC Dallas’ U19 Boys Academy finished second in the Dallas Cup Super Group, falling 3-2 to Brazil’s São Paul FC in Sunday’s showpiece final. Jared Salazar and Daniel Baran scored for Dallas but it wasn’t enough to fend off a talented São Paulo team that won all five of its games throughout the tournament. The victory was São Paulo’s fourth Dallas Cup Super Group triumph, having previously won it in 1995, 2007 and 2009.
In all, FC Dallas teams won the Dallas Cup title in four divisions this year: U15 and U17 Girls and U16 and U18 Boys. Of the 13 Dallas Cup finals across all age groups (Girls and Boys), FC Dallas competed in nine of the championship games – winning four.
