FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas Youth is excited to announce Gareth Evans will be joining its Girls Academy coaching staff, effective March 1, 2022.
Evans brings a wealth of soccer experience to the staff at FC Dallas. After a 13 year professional playing career in both the UK and US, Evans finished his playing career with OKC Energy FC in USL in 2016 and left the professional ranks with multiple All-League selections setting records in the USL Championship minutes and games played.
Combined with his professional playing career, Evans is a USSF A Youth licensed coach and his most recent coaching role was as the ECNL Director at Oklahoma Energy FC. During his time there, he led the program from DA, into GA and then into ECNL developing the club into a nationally recognized competitor. In 2020/2021 Evans guided his club to a 2006 Frontier Conference championship, GA National Championship and two other GA Final Fours for multiple age groups. At the point in which Gareth left OEFC this year, they currently had 2 teams in a qualifying position and two more with a chance to qualify for ECNL Champions League playoffs. Over the last 3 years, under Evans’ direction, the OEFC elite platform has helped 44 players further their playing careers into the college, which is the most successful period in their elite girls program history. In addition to coaching the youth, Gareth has also been an assistant on the USL professional team OK Energy FC.
“I am proud to be offered the opportunity to join the staff at FC Dallas Girls Academy, the best youth soccer program in the Country.” Evans said. “I’m very excited to learn from and work with such a quality group of staff and players within this top tier program and to help continue to push the FC Dallas girls side to the highest level possible.”
Gareth will be working with several different age groups within the FC Dallas Girls Academy in the ECNL. Matt Grubb, the FC Dallas Girls Academy Director, shared: “I’m excited to work with Gareth. He is a driven, passionate, innovative coach who cultivates hard-working, high-intensity teams. He emphasizes work ethic, accountability, resilience, and integrity. Gareth aligns with the FCD Way, focused on individualizing player development and allowing players the freedom to explore and create the game. He’s shown the ability over the past few years to greatly improve the teams he coaches. We are extremely excited to be able to add him to an already fantastic staff!”
