The FC Dallas Player Development system continues to provide college programs around the country with players that have refined their skills through the FC Dallas Youth program. The FCD College Round-up is our bi-weekly series that will keep track of a select number of former FCDY players and monitor their progress through the college soccer ranks.
Baylor University (3-1-0) – Natalie Huggins (Sophomore Forward)
The Baylor Women’s soccer team is four games in to its 2012-13 season with a record of 3-1-0. The Bears opened the season with a 1-0 win over Rice on Friday, August 17 and followed that up with a 5-0 win over Northwestern State at home two days later. Last weekend Baylor traveled to California where they beat Cal State Northridge 2-1 on Friday before suffering their first loss of the season to Long Beach State in overtime by a score of 2-1. Huggins has started every match for the Bears this season, logging 190 minutes and three shots on goal.
Duke University (0-1-0) – Jack Coleman (Sophomore Midfielder)
After playing in only one game last season with the Hoosiers at Indiana University, former FC Dallas Academy U-18 captain Jack Coleman has transferred to Duke University for his Sophomore year of college. The Blue Devils opened up the season last Saturday with a 1-0 road loss to Notre Dame. Coleman saw 26 minutes of playing time as a second half substitute in the loss.
Florida Gulf Coast University(0-2-0) – Aaron Guillen (Freshman Defender)
Florida Gulf Coast University has opened the season with two shutout losses, losing to Akron 4-0 last Friday and Georgetown 1-0 on Monday. Freshman defender Aaron Guillen started and went the full 90 in both matches for the Eagles.
Furman University (3-1-0) – Holly Reilly (Sophomore Goalkeeper)
The Furman Women’s soccer team is four games into the season. The Paladins opened the season with a 1-0 win over North Florida, followed by a 2-1 loss to Georgia, a 1-0 overtime win over Clemson and a 1-0 win over Troy last Sunday. Sophomore goalkeeper Holly Reilly hasn’t seen any minutes for Furman through its first four matches.
Hardin-Simmons University (0-0-0) – Eliza Keegan (Sophomore Forward)
The Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls start their 2012 soccer schedule this Friday at home against Southwestern University.
Harvard University (0-0-0) – Mark Ashby (Freshman Defender)
The Harvard Men’s soccer team opens its season on the road against Massachusetts this Friday.
Iowa State University (3-1-0) – Lindsay Frank (Sophomore Defender)
The Iowa State Women’s soccer team started their season with a 4-0 win over Nebraska-Omaha on Friday, August 17, followed by a 1-0 overtime win over Creighton, a 1-0 regulation win over New Mexico, and a 1-0 loss to Virgina Tech last Sunday. Sophomore defender Lindsay Frank started all four matches for the Cyclones, logging a total of 355 minutes.
McNeese State University (1-2-0) – Tori Lasiter (Sophomore Midfielder), Haley Lyons (Sophomore Forward), Krista Steinbeiser (Sophomore Midfielder), Jordan Leinweaver (Senior Defender), Megan Rogers (Senior Midfielder)
The McNeese State Cowgirls started their season with a 2-1 win over Texas Southern two weeks ago, followed by a 2-1 overtime loss to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a 2-0 loss to Rice last Sunday. Sophomore Tori Lasiter has registered two shots on goal in 85 minutes of action; sophomore Haley Lyons has scored one goal in 214 minutes of play; sophomore Krista Steinbeiser has played 168 minutes; senior Jordan Leinweaver hasn’t seen any action yet; and senior Megan Rogers has played 136 minutes.
Old Dominion University (1-0-0) – Skylar Hagan (Sophomore Midfielder)
Old Dominion University opened its season with a 4-0 win over Navy last Saturday. Sophomore midfielder Skylar Hagan started and went the full 90 for the Monarchs in the victory.
Southern Methodist University (0-0-1) – Chris Figueroa (Sophomore Midfielder), Jaime Ibarra (Junior Goalkeeper)
The Mustangs tied Campbell 1-1 in their season opener last Friday. Jaime Ibarra played the full 110 minutes as the match went into overtime and made eight saves while allowing one goal. Chris Figueroa didn’t see any action in the match.
University of Arkansas (3-1-0) – Allie Tripp (Sophomore Defender)
The Razorbacks got their season started with three straight wins over Austin Peay, Texas and Missouri State, before falling in a 4-0 loss to SMU on Sunday. Allie Tripp’s only action came in the loss to the Mustangs in which she saw 67 minutes as a substitute.
University of Maryland (1-0-0) – London Woodberry (Senior Defender), Mikey Ambrose (Freshman Defender)
Maryland opened its season at home with a 3-0 win over Louisville. London Woodberry and Mikey Ambrose both started and played the full 90 in the Terps’ backline.
University of New Mexico (1-0-0) – Nick Rochowski (Freshman Defender)
New Mexico defeated UCLA 3-2 on the road to open its season last Friday. Nick Rochowski didn’t see any playing time in the win.
University of North Carolina (1-0-0) – Boyd Okwuonu (Sophomore Defender), Danny Garcia (Freshman Midfielder)
Defending national champion North Carolina started its season with a 4-0 win over Gardner-Webb on Saturday. Boyd Okwuonu started and went the full 90 for UNC while midfielder Danny Garcia came in as a substitute in the 33rd minute before tallying two assists in his Tar Heels debut.
University of North Texas (4-0-0) – Michelle Young (Senior Forward)
UNT has won its first four matches to start the 2012 season. Michelle Young has played in all four games for the Mean Green, tallying a goal and two assists.
University of South Carolina (1-0-0) – Bradlee Baladez (Sophomore, Midfielder/Forward)
The Gamecocks opened their season with a 1-0 win over the College of Charleston. Bradlee Baladez started the game and registered one shot on goal in 82 minutes played.
