THE 4-2-3-1

Dallas will return to a 4-2-3-1 formation from the start for the first time since a 2-2 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps on May 19, though they did briefly deploy the look in the first half of their 1-0 win over Minnesota on June 29. Santiago Mosquera will make his starting debut in the No. 10 role for FCD, having started his previous nine matches either on the wing or in a dual-striker role. The Colombian subbed on in the attacking midfield role for the final half hour last Saturday in Salt Lake.

HOLLINGSHEAD AT LEFT BACK

Pareja will continue to tinker the lineup based on the opponent and game plan as Ryan Hollingshead returns to a starting role at left back. The defender last started on June 23 in New York, but has appeared in six straight matches for FCD. Homegrown Kris Reaves had earned the nod on the left last weekend, while Maynor Figueroa had started there in the two matches prior. Dallas added left back Marquinos Pedroso on July 5, but is still awaiting the final paperwork to make him eligible for an MLS match.
