FRISCO – Less than two weeks after being loaned to Bayern Munich, 18-year-old Chris Richards made his debut with the first-team squad in the International Champions Cup.
Richards was subbed into the match in the 62nd minute against Paris Saint-Germain when the score was knotted up at one.
Richards played his natural center back position and his presence was felt immediately. He completed his first 35 passes of the match, kept the backline well-connected and made some key passes upfield.
With Bayern up 2-1 in the 71st minute, Richards almost got his head on a diving header off of a free kick.
Bayern's next match will be against Juventus on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Philadelphia as they open their U.S. tour.
Adonijah Reid also had some action this weekend, as Ottawa Fury FC hosted Nashville SC in a USL match.
Reid was subbed into the match in the 67th minute, with the score tied at zero. He created one chance and was on the field for both of Ottawa’s goals in the 2-0 win.
Ottawa has now won three of its last four games and is in seventh place in the Eastern Conference.
