Returning From Loan: Adonijah Reid Trains with FC Dallas' First Team After Returning From Ottawa Fury

Reid Returns from Loan

FRISCO - FC Dallas welcomed back Adonijah Reid, who trained with the first team on Friday morning after spending the last four months on loan in his native Canada with USL-side Ottawa Fury FC.

Reid, 18, was the first Canadian Generation Adidas player selected in an MLS SuperDraft, and while his age precluded him from playing with Dallas earlier in the season before turning 18 in August, the young forward is now relishing his return to FC Dallas.

“It was a good [training] session, it was kind of a lift for me cause I just came back, but it’s good to be around the guys and the coaches,” Reid told FCDallas.com. “There is a big difference from the USL to the MLS, a big leap in player quality and I need to show the club what I can do.”

Now looking to break into the first team and impress his fellow teammates and head coach, Oscar Pareja, Reid admits he still needs to improve on his fitness level to “play for the team more, if they need me.”

With Ottawa finishing the USL regular season below a playoff spot, languishing a 10th-place finish, Reid reflected on a difficult season for his loan side, ruing wasteful opportunities against teams in the league.

“The competition at the USL is decent, some teams are better some teams are lower, but we couldn’t do something against the teams that we had winning chances against.

Back in August, Reid, scored his first professional goal while on loan with USL's Ottawa Fury FC, capping off a 3-1 win over Charlotte Independence. He hopes to notch his first MLS one as the team heads into 2018.
